Born and raised in San Diego, California, Annie Licari Dover graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in Psychology and Music. She earned an MA in Counseling through the Department of Education. She also holds an AA in Art. She has studied painting with Vladimir Medencia and Willie McGrath, but she is an independent and largely self-taught artist who has been active in the region for over 25 years. She has adopted a multitude of approaches to her work; from personal symbolism to romantic realism. Annie has been the recipient of many awards: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place at the Del Mar Fair in realistic oil painting; Juror’s Choice several times at the San Diego Art Instutute; The Grumbacher Award; and Several Honorable Mentions. She has held multiple solo shows, and is currently represented by the Santa Ysabel Gallery in California, and the Peterson-Cody Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
